Project
I design and develop the official companion app for the Unu Scooter Pro electric moped, as well as the open-source fork "Unustasis". With this app, available for iOS and Android devices, you can remotely control your scooter from your phone, check its battery level and health, and share access to it with partners.

Background
When unu GmbH shut down operations in 2024 due to bankruptcy, they also shut down all servers powering their app. This rendered most of the scooter's smart features useless. Along with some other savy unu drivers, we reverse-engineered the Bluetooth interface of the scooter, and I set myself the goal of creating a full replacement app. The target was to restore those lost "smart" features while matching the old app's level of refinement and usability, without the need for servers. I launched the app in beta in 2024, and quickly gained a few hundred users. When another German e-mobility company, emco electroroller GmbH, acquired unu and resumed operations a few months after, they endorsed my app as the new "official" companion app and hired me as a freelancer to continue development under the unu brand.

Involvement
I took just about as much of a full-stack position in this project as one can: from technical aspects like developing the app itself in Flutter as well as native code, to designing, user-testing and prototyping the app in Figma, to user-facing work like technical support via email and Discord.
